The Flavorite business started with the simple idea to put the flavour back into tomatoes and through 30 years of mastering growing techniques, the humble, juicy tomatoes have made their way into homes across Australia. Always looking for ways to innovate, Flavorite needed to find an environmentally sustainable solution to produce great tasting tomatoes all year round.
Following an opportunity to combine forces with local tomato growers in northern Victoria, Flavorite saw the benefit of its location. Receiving more sunlight meant increased production in winter. With more land available, opportunity to invest in the site was obvious and Flavorite looked into building a new glasshouse in Tatura. The incredible six-hectare glasshouse was completed in July 2022 and now produces an additional 4,000 tonnes of tomatoes all year round. The increase in production makes Flavorite the largest glasshouse producer of fresh fruit and vegetables in Australia. The build was made possible through contributions from the Victorian Government’s Regional Jobs Fund and Victorian Business Growth Fund.
With the new glasshouse, more reliable crops of higher quality can be grown in a sustainable way along with the creation of more jobs. The new Tatura glasshouse has increased their employee base in the Goulburn Valley region from 110 to 170 employees – tipping to more than 1,000 employees company wide.
